It doesn't sound so sad... It's creepy... As if something in the corner is lurking and you try to find out what it is or perhaps there's a hint of mystery in a room of an old mansion then... "piece ends" WHAT?! THAT'S IT?! :O

Could have been better if it's longer... :3

I don't find this classical at all. What is that "Whoa" sound? It doesn't fit so well with the music... O,o

Uhm... This doesn't sound so classical. It think you put it in the wrong category...

To War... It's like the soldiers are saying their goodbyes, as if they will never come back from the war. This is a score, which is suited for a great battle that the fate of people or worlds will be decided...

It may have few instruments but they are all correctly used. The loop is flawless..

Scoring:
Harmony - 1.0
Uniqueness - 0.5
Consistency - 1.0
Length - -
(Well, your music piece is a loop so it's not applicable.)
Application - 1.0
(Can be used as a background music of a cutscene or a theme for a certain event in a series.)
Additonal Category:
Flawlessness - 1.0
(Some loops with string instruments have this sudden cut in th end.)
Total: 4.5

It's rare to find this fantasy horror kind of music. You successfully incorporated several instruments without overshadowing each other nor sounding like untuned instruments clashing. Choir sounds doesn't sound so synthetic because of the compliment of the other instruments.

Scoring:
Harmony - 1.0
Uniqueness - 1.0
Consistency - 1.0
Length - 1.0
(Some music pieces sound so good but so damn short.)
Application - 1.0
(Can be used as a background music of some games or movie sequence.)
Total: 5.0

For some reason, it reminds me of Adventure Time... Hehe...
I'm really at awe on how musicians make all tones of different voice ranges merge into one harmonious music...

Even though it's short; It really does sound interesting. Since it's still unfinished, I'll just give 4.5... so... MORE! MORE! :3

I feel goosebumps on this one. It can be used in computer games with the theme such as of TESV: Skyrim. All instruments sound so realistic, from the fading in of instruments to changing of notes. I hope you'll bag the 1st prize for the competition since your musical piece is one of a kind.

descara responds:

Thanks for the encouragement! Worked a fair bit on the programming, especially on the solo violin. Glad to hear it payed off!

I'm not a one hell of a musician but I can tell that the harmony of notes surely is "harmonious"; each note of each instrument compliments each other. I just noticed that the viola (I'm not sure if it's the viola or violin) sounds discontinuous, like the strings starts to have a louder volume with certain oscillation when prolonged then, when changing to a new note, the volume and the oscillation cuts off abruptly. Speaking of abrupt, the ending was too sudden; it would be better if the end part fades...

Hence:
5 stars - 1/2 star (discontinuous strings) - 1/2 star (sudden ending) = 4 stars

Centrist responds:

Meh, can't be perfect when you can't play the instrument yourself. I suppose though I should have faded then end. :P But thank you for the review, really. It's nice to see something more than "good job".

For some reason, the song reminds me of Zack Fair's death (Final Fantasy: Crisis Core ). It is somewhat having a sad ending or perhaps ending of a story/mission. It may be short but it is a moving piece in a sense that you can imagine an emotional scene with this as a background music. However, there is this an odd "thump" around 1:41 that doesn't seem to fit in the piece. But, I'm giving you 5 stars still.

tallestrose responds:

I see! The thing is, the thump was intentional, since at the same time, there is a murder scene in the movie. So I thought it would add more of a scare factor with the other sound effects in it.
Still, thanks a lot!

Final boss battle with few companion cut scenes (allies aid the hero in battle). You got badass drumrolls!
